This is the story about the wuymirri, it is important to the Warramiri and Lamamirr clan. We do the dance to it, its when person lays down and acts like a whale (wuymirri) and 2-3 people cut it up with an machettes.
I got taught in this dance by my poison cousin Marcus Lacey, the dance I did was cutting the whale up with the machette. I did this dance at my cousin funeral I chose this because it is special to the Warramiri and Lamamirr clan and it tells me that I am related to the two clan group.
The whale for the Lamamirr clan Guluwan and the Warramiri and Birrkili clan they have one wuymirri, and same wanga (home) called Marrandil. Some parts of the wuymirri stories are sacred because I don’t know the full story about the wuymirri. I will learn about this when I will go through mens business.
I have never seen a whale here in Galiwinku but when I went to gold coast I seen whales at sea world. And I felt really grateful that I’ve seen one.
I feel so proud when I wear this t-shirt because it represents my grandmother and my grandmothers’ mother’s clan.
One problem for whale is that they get caught up in a ghost net that fisher man’s leaves behind. The rangers in Galiwinku are collecting ghost net to keep the sea animals safe.
