Warrior of the ocean story by Jethro lacey

Bapayili is a great ancestral warrior and hunter of the ocean. He waits for the soft northern winds called lungurrma to turn the ocean into gunbilk crystal waters. He travels in his giant canoe called birrupirru accompanied by other warriors.

As they paddle across the crystal calm waters they follow the clouds on the horizon called wulpunudu. Then they reach a special hunter can now see burarr the breath of the whale.

They paddle towards the ancient mammal to spear it with his harpoon. After a long battle when the ancient animal is dead the warrior hunter raise there sacred ores called mathin to acknowledge the hunt is completed and must now return home then they travel back home following the black fire smoke to there island paradise. The land of the coconut and bamboo trees with white sandy beaches.
